Holiday Reading Ideas
Over the next few weeks, perhaps either once the holiday hype as settled a bit or simply in the midst of it all, you may find yourself with a bit of extra time to do some reading. Maybe you are on break from school or your responsibilities at work are a tad lighter with everyone else's mind wondering what they will get Aunt Cindy as a holiday present. We have some suggestions of good reads to take advantage of, given that the cold weather has settled in and the Christmas carols are a-ringing.
For the baker in you, there is the Gourmet Cookie Book, which is complete with cookie recipes from around the world as well as dozens of Christmas and holiday themed cookies to delight you!
To further get you in the mood, there's The Christmas Chronicles by Tim Slover. Described as a holiday favorite for all ages, this novel tells the enchanting story of crafted with marvelous magic to uncover how Santa Claus became the man he is today.
Also holiday themed but with a tad less 'marvel' is Tinsel by Hank Stuever, who was interested in documenting the nation's most over the top celebration, Christmas, and how it all goes down in Frisco, Texas.
Knowing full well that the holiday season isn't for everyone, we also would like to suggest The Neighbors are Watching by Debra Ginsburg, whose novel explores the darker side of life in suburbia.
And for the adventurer in all of us, there is Luka and the Fire of Life by Salman Rushdie. It's an imaginative and magic tale of Luka, who is destined to save his father from doom.
Whatever you choose to indulge in this season, we hope it includes a good book!
