Celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day!
If you are a fan of Google Doodles, then check out today custom creation because it is definitely something worth celebrating: it is the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day. This year's celebration is taking part under the event "Join Me on the Bridge". In celebration of women's achievements through history, there are events being held all over the globe today, asking women to join together and walk across a bridge in their city. The idea came from from Rwanda and The Congo where groups of women meet on bridges to show strength between two groups facing challenges in war torn countries.
Want to see where women are gathering today on a bridge near you? Check out the Google Map here.
If you can't attend one of the events today in person, you can still show your support by "checking in" on a bridge virtually. We checked in at the Brooklyn Bridge. There is also the opportunity to donate to a woman-focused cause, including efforts for empowerment, economic security, education, quality, health and safety. With so many worthwhile efforts, it is hard to decide which one to support!
