At the Library

It goes without saying that the public library is the place for free books, but libraries offer a lot more than reading material.  After the uproar about Netflix's recently announced price increase, many suggested alternatives; most failed to mention that libraries have DVDs (both new and old titles) available for patrons to check out for a week or more at no cost.  In addition to materials for check-out, a vast array of programs related to reading and literacy can usually be found at the library.  Some even offer tutoring for high school students (the King County library in the Seattle area has tutors for a variety of subjects, the library system in Los Angeles does SAT prep) along with basic computer classes and career workshops.  Since public libraries are supported with taxpayer dollars, it makes sense in today's economy to take advantage of all the resources offered.
