We are leaps and bounds, literally, from where we started with our ballet lessons just a week ago. Thanks to Bunheads author, Sophie Flack, we are ready for a more advanced move today--a move that's quick like a cat and is so aptly named--the Pas de Chat.

Curious about Bunheads? Then make sure you read our book description here. And wouldn't it be nice to own your own hardcover copy of Bunheads? We thought so too, so we are giving away copies to TEN lucky winners! The contest ends October 31st so enter now for your chance to win.

And for today's lesson...

DAY EIGHT BALLET LESSON:
PAS DE CHAT

Pas de Chat [pah duh shah]: Translated to cat’s step, it is named after its resemblance to a cat’s leap. You jump sideways, raising one leg up so it is bent with the knee out to the side of your body then quickly raising the second leg up so both legs quickly form a diamond shape. Then you land on the same leg you started with, bring the other leg down in front of the first leg. The most famous pas de chat in ballet is in Swan Lake when four dancers hold arms and do pas de chats together.
