New Barnes and Noble Marketplace
Not long after receiving court approval to take over Borders's online assets, Barnes and Noble made two changes: first, the company shut down borders.com (the site redirects to bn.com with a special message for Borders customers) and then made a move to expand its own online offerings. Through the use of third parties, bn.com now offers customers the opportunity to buy an assortment of different items like cookware, digital cameras, and Halloween costumes. Barnes and Noble will receive a commission on third party items purchased through its website. For now, at least, it is difficult to find the marketplace items as books are favored by the keyword searches. For more on the new products being offered, see the press release from Barnes and Noble.
