Harper Lee Letter Auctioned
On Tuesday a letter written by Harper Lee sold at auction for $9,518. The letter was written in 1960 in response to a fan who wanted to know where the Maycomb County of To Kill a Mockingbird was located. According to the Associated Press, the typed letter also included a hand-drawn map of Alabama illustrating where Maycomb County would be. Lee, who was born in Alabama, finished writing the Pulitzer Prize-winning To Kill a Mockingbird in 1959; it was published in 1960 and remains her only published novel.
