Publisher Pulls Titles from Amazon
Back in 2009, Educational Development Corporation (EDC) stopped selling Kane Miller publications on Amazon; sales of those titles increased more than 33%, according to EDC President Randall White. Now EDC has pulled its Usborne titles as well saying that Amazon has sought to "gain control of publishing and other industries by making it impossible for other retailers to compete effectively." White went on to say that "not only can we survive without Amazon, but we can thrive." The 1,500 children's and educational books published by EDC will continue to be available through other booksellers such as Barnes and Noble and on the Usborne website: www.usbornebooksandmore.com.
