The Hunger Games may no longer be topping the box office (though it did set a box office debut record for the year with $152.5 million in the opening weekend, according to Reuters), but it has gone up in rank when it comes to challenged books. In 2010, The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins came in at number five on the top ten challenged books list. The trilogy ranked third in 2011. Every year since 1990, the American Library Association releases a list of the top ten list challenged books in order to make the public aware of censorship, which the ALA is strongly against.
