On April 2, 2013, award-winning author Shana Abé will be releasing her debut YA novel, The Sweetest Dark. The book, which is being published by Bantam Books, is a continuation of her Drákon series.

The Sweetest Dark opens in post-Victorian England, where a young child once found wandering the streets of London was spirited away to a crumbling orphanage. Now sixteen, Lora Jones appears on the outside to be an ordinary girl. Yet Lora’s been keeping a heart full of secrets: She hears songs that no one else can hear, dreams vividly of smoke and flight, and lives with a mysterious voice inside her that insists she’s far more than what she seems. As World War I begins and bombs bring a heavy toll on the city, Lora is selected as the new charity student at Iverson, an elite boarding school on the southern coast of England. There she meets two young men who open her eyes and change her destiny. Both have the answers to her past but only one holds the key to her future.

Shana Abé is the author of The Time Weaver, The Treasure Keeper, Queen of Dragons, The Dream Thief, and The Smoke Thief.
