The exciting life of the secret mistress to King Louis XIV of France...The Secret Wife of Louis XIV tells the tale of Francoise d'Aubigne and how she went from the child of a poor, convicted murderer, to the mistress of the most powerful man in all of France. This book begins with Francoise's birth, and then follows her adventures throughout the world in this real life rags to riches story. At the age of 15, Francoise comes back to France to get married, and is soon widowed. After becoming a widow, she is sent to the palace of Louis XIV, and that is where the real story begins. At first, I was really excited about getting this book, and I really looked forward to reading it. As I kept on reading, however, the book started to lose my interest. I'm sure that many people who really like biographies and the such would really enjoy this book, but I did not. If you really like history, or are a biography person, I would definitely say read this book, if not, I would stay clear of it.
