After her father made a costly decision, "Crestie" Ally Ryan lost her home, her friends and her old wealthy life. Two years later, Ally is back at Orchard Hill, but this time she's living on the other side of town. It's only Ally and her mother; she has no idea where her father has gone. Ally wants to get her old life back, even though her old friends won't accept her into their circle and even go out of their way to torment her. When she goes back to see her old house, she meets Jake, who isn't like all her former friends. The more she spends time with him, the more she falls for him. Ally can't understand why her friends can't let her father's mistake go. In the end, looks aren't always what they seem and Ally learns that some things can never be forgotten.
She's So Dead to us is the first in a new trilogy by Kieran Scott. While the plot was somewhat exaggerated, once I started the book, I could not put it down and finished it in one day. Every time I thought something would happen, the story took another direction. While the general idea was predictable, it was nice being surprised throughout the story. Scott did a good job of giving her characters personality. The cliffhanger ending left me wanting to know more, so I was really happy to see that there are 2 more novels on the way. The book reminded me a novel version of the "Mean Girls," so I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes that movie and fans of young adult fiction. This will make the perfect summer beach read.
