In Faithful, Maggie Bennett is in shambles. Her mother recently disappeared, and her father is unable to support Maggie while he grieves. In the midst of hard times, her father whisks her away from her home in Newport, shuttling Maggie off to Yellowstone. Maggie is angry beyond belief at her fathering for taking away everything she's ever had. Yellowstone, however, isn't without its excitement. While there, Maggie meets Tom Rowland, the handsome son of the park geologist. Yellowstone soon reveals its wonders and beauty to Maggie, as well as hidden secrets she never could have imagined.
Janet Fox has added an amazing addition to the historical fiction genre. Maggie, though spoiled and whiny in the beginning, develops into a focused and self-reliant young woman. Yellowstone provides a gorgeous backdrop, and Fox manages to incorporate its beauty into the story itself. With Maggie's continual quest for her mother and the secrets that Yellowstone holds, Faithful never becomes dull. The novel was exciting and fresh. I absolutely loved it. I recommend Faithful to anyone who enjoys historical fiction, romance, or the beauty of nature.
