Kiss in the Dark
By: Lauren Henderson

Kiss in the Dark by Lauren Henderson is a book that encompasses both mystery and romance. The story is the third in the series of books. The novel follows Scarlett Wakefield, a girl who seems to be cursed with finding trouble. After changing schools, Scarlett finds it hard to fit in. Her only true friends, so it seems, is Taylor, a bulky girl, and her gorgeous boyfriend, Jase. When Scarlett's sworn enemy, Plum, transfers to the school, the reputation she built for herself comes crashing down around her. When Scarlett discovers another dead body on the Land of Wakefield School, she feels that it is the only connection to her parents and their death. Scarlett discovers secrets that change her life forever.

To begin with, Lauren Henderson does a wonderful job writing the book in Scarlett's perspective. When reading I felt like I was actually experiencing what Scarlett was going through. I wish I had read the first two books in the series in order to fully understand the situation Scarlett was currently in. I thought the book traveled way too fast and there were way too many problems going on at once. Not only is there the death on campus, but also Scarlett dealing with her boyfriend, her best friend, her sworn enemy, and her family. It was at times way too much to follow. Although it was a quick paced book, I still found myself engulfed in it. I had to read to the end in order to figure out the mystery, and when I reached it, I was both happy and sad at the outcome. My favorite character was in fact Jase. He encompasses the type of boy every girl should have. He did aggravate me when he refused to talk to Scarlett but I fully understood because of the situation he was put in. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend it to anyone interested in teen like issues along with mysteries and romance.>
